RE: Your favorite/least favorite first-party console controller?

I never said today's games weren't fun, but most people would infer that. They should stop.

Games back then were also ridiculously difficult and were rarely conquered.

Now today when you shell out 60 clams for a game you can beat it in an hour. That's convenience.

Do not infer anything I do not explicitly state.

Either games today are using more and more buttons, or my old age is starting to make itself apparent. I often forget buttons.

With the SNES, there's just six. Or even better, with the NES, there's just two.

Nothing beats a mouse and keyboard, but this is a console controller thread. QWERTYUIOP!

RE: Your favorite/least favorite first-party console controller?

So yes, I read it incorrectly. It's not that you think they aren't fun... It's just you think they aren't AS fun? What do you mean? >=0

I think maybe that's what I don't like about games of the past. It made me aggrivated that they were so difficult. I was never able to beat them, and feel good about myself. Which, is fine for some people, but I like the feeling of completing a game.

However, I also agree with you on the shortness of todays games. They are too short for the ammount that you pay. They could stand to be a bit longer, and not be beaten in one sitting of 5 hours or whatever. =)

I forget buttons starting off, but I get to the point where I have no problems. So... I don't know what that says. =)

Two buttons... Hmm... Tetris? =D
There isn't a whole lot, I would think, that could be played with two buttons.

AND ABOUT THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD... That's not completely true... I don't know as if a mouse works (it doesn't on the dashboard), but I heard that a keyboard works (at least on the dashboard) on the 360.
Possibly the PS3, since it went to USB ports as well, if I remember right.

Edit: The PS3 Controller is completely USB... A to mini B...

Oh wow! They actually caught up with the times and made the L2 and R2 buttons TRIGGERS! Good for Sony!

I still hate them! Laughing

And where the crud do the batteries go?

OH YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY PLUG IT IN TO USE IT, RIGHT?

Super Mario Bros., Mission Impossible, Ghostbusters, Shingen the Ruler, Terra Cresta, Gunsmoke, Metroid, and much more can be played with two buttons... Laughing

I mean exactly what I said. I was not saying anything about the "fun-ness" (Huh?) of today's wonderful tech demos--ahem--games.

You could play Bionic Commando, Super Mario Bros., Dr. Mario, Pong--heck--even a Jurassic Park game with two buttons! I bet if they really tried, Ghost Recon could work with two buttons. Gears of War pretty much does use two buttons as it is.
